Russian Government has changed the list of documents to be presented at the ConsulateThe Governent of the Russian Federation has changed the list of documents to be presented at the Russian Consulate/Embassy when applying for a Russian visa.
Instead of the medical insurance policy the applicants will have to present a guarantee letter from the sponsoring organization. Guarantee letters were introduced by the Passport and Visa Service in Moscow in November 2002 and were presented when applying for business invitations to Russia. In the letters it is mentioned that the sponsoring company guarantees to cover living, medical and deportation costs.
As before, the list of documents, needed for applying for a Russian visa, includes invitation to the Russian Federation, travel documents valid for entry and exit from the Russian Federation, roundway tickets or a document confirming that the return ticket will be bought at the point of flights' change in case of travelling en route.
