Russian Passport and Visa Section announces the list of "migration risk" countriesOn April 10, 2002 the Russian Passport and Visa Section officially announced the list of so-called "migration risk" countries.
The citizens of the mentioned countries risk facing difficulties when applying for Russian visa support (a.k.a. invitation to Russia) or when applying for their visa at the Russian consulate abroad.
The practical implementation of this decision of PVU can be as follows:
Additional documents can be asked for at any step of applying for a Russian visa. Additional documents can include official confirmation of booking a hotel and confirmation of payment (invoice, receipt, slip, etc.) for all tourist services - when applying for a tourist visa to Russia, original of invitation when applying for a business visa to Russia, etc.
The cases of the citizens of the "migration risk" countries are likely to be regarded for a longer time than those of European and American citizens.
It becomes more likely for an application for a Russian visa/invitation to be rejected by the corresponding officials.
